I attended my first Dai Due dinner last night. Now I’m not a Gusher. But I was blown away. And that’s an understatement. Jesse Griffiths and Tamara Mayfield and their staff came in like stealth bombers, quietly transforming space and making magic. The menu, prepared with all fresh, local ingredients was Five Star. I’m hoping I can get them to share some of their recipes, but if I had to choose just one or two dishes, I don’t believe that I could. Of course the charcuterie was wonderful. (I discovered many new foods AND a new word!) The Pumpkin Soup with chorizo and blood sausage was fabulous, as was the Chaurice with greens. And that Cracklin Cornbread! yum! I couldn’t pick my favorite sausage, and the spit-roasted Loin with the lima beans and corn was a crowd favorite. I can’t list all the food that we were served, but it was all delicious. I don’t know how I saved room for the warm Beignets! wow!
