I love it when it rains and the creek runs with water. What I don't get is all the commotion I get when I head for the couch after a splashing good time...

The East Austin Urban Farm Tour was a blast. It couldn’t have happened without all the volunteers, the amazing chefs, the wonderful donors. Thank you all so much.
And up next, the Third Annual Funky Chicken Coop Tour. Come visit the farm and see our Funky Coop, and tour many other funky coops around Austin – for FREE!
More information is available at the Funky Chicken Coop Tour website.

I would be remiss if I didn’t encourage you to sign up for the East Austin Urban Farm Tour, happening this Sunday, April 17, from 1:00 to 5:00. Tours of four local urban farms, all in one neighborhood, all serving chef prepared food and local drinks. ![photo[3]](http://springdalefarmaustin.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/photo3.jpg)
I would hate for you to miss the tour because it’s a benefit for a REALLY good cause: Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance – one of the few, well maybe ONLY, organizations that speak up for small ranchers and farmers. (Raw milk anyone? FARFA’s on it. Food Safety? FARFA’s on it. Animal ID? FARFA’s on it…)
I would also hate for you to miss it because some of the top chefs in town will be dishing up great local, farm fresh bites. Not to name drop, but this is quite the oportunity to see executive chefs from The Driskell, La Condesa, Wink, Zoot, Fabi and Rosi, East End Pies, Peche, Eastside Cafe, Dai Due, Pie Fixes Everything… all in action down on the farm(s)…
And did I mention local drinks? Oh yeah. Dripping Springs Vodka, Republic of Texas Tequila, Live Oak Brewery, Zhi Tea – just to name a few.
Yes, I’d hate for you to miss the farm tours happening on each of the four farms (Boggy Creek Farm, Hausbar Farm, Rain Lily Farm, Springdale Farm) on the quarter hour. As my dad would say, I think we’re gonna be putting the big pot in the little pot for this event! You don’t want to miss it!
Come see us! Tickets are available online at Farm House Delivery or Live at Boggy Creek Farm, Eastside Cafe, or Springdale Farm. And each $35 ticket includes a supporting membership in Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance. For more information visit Field and Feast.
Support your local farm! See you Sunday!
It always kind of hurts me when a plant dies. I keep thinking I’ll get over that sentiment; it is, after all, the natural cycle. But somehow I take it personally, as if I could have done something more. Take these last rounds of cold weather – we irrigated, we covered, we talked real sweet… But Nature would have none of it. Plants froze and froze hard. so. We move on. And the good news is, while I hate to loose a plant, I LOVE to see the new ones get started. This is one of my favorite times of the seasons.
Here is some new lettuce- little babies growing vigorously, unaware of the countless perils ahead. Here we are beating the weeds. Beating the bugs. Beating the weather. Quick! Take a picture!
